DEMAND Design & Manufacture for Disability, is a unique charity wholly focused, since 1980, on designing and manufacturing assistive products for disabled people. Our thoughtfully designed products provide unique opportunities for disabled people to engage with the world on their own terms.
The Role
This is a permanent, part-time role. Training will be provided where necessary.
Responsibilities
- Production of small batches of products in a variety of materials using hand and machine tools
- High quality finishing of wood parts
- Stock-keeping and ordering of components and materials
- Interpreting technical drawings, sketches, and production documents
- Performing quality checks to ensure that products meet all specifications
- Maintaining a clean and organised work area
- Following all safety procedures
In joining a small team, the ideal candidate is someone who, along with the required technical skills and knowledge, actively takes charge of their tasks while working under the direction of the Head of Marketing and Creative Operations.
Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment
- Practical knowledge of woodworking, metal fabrication, and machining
- Familiarity with 3D CAD-CAM tools
- Good general workplace IT skills and proficient using Microsoft Office tools and Google Workspace
- Accurate and fluent in written and spoken English
- Ability to create and follow written instructions and procedures
- Ability to create accurate logs & timekeeping records

The Offer
- Salary c£30k pro rata per annum depending on experience
- Contributory Pension (Minimum 5% personal contribution + 5% company contribution)

- Part-time, permanent position: 15-22.5 hours per week (to be negotiated) with core hours 10:00am – 4:00pm Monday – Friday
- Pro-rata 33 days’ annual leave (25 + 8 public holidays)
