DEMAND is a national charity that has been designing and making specialist equipment for the disabled for over 30 years. It has recently expanded it's service to include service and repair of existing equipment and refurbishment of donated equipment for resale to second users at a vastly reduced cost to make it more accessible. An excellent design from Quest 88 that performs brilliantly. The Kaye Walker (Posture Control Walker) is designed to make walking less energy consuming whilst improving postural alignment. The Kaye Walker combines a folding aluminium frame with individually height adjustable legs. As a child grows and the walker is adjusted in height, the “footprint” of the walker increases, therefore ensuring that the walker remains stable throughout its useful life. Having an open front to the posture walker reduces the “barrier syndrome” and helps to improve social development, interaction with others, as well as enabling children to get closer to tables and play surfaces. The rear bar is also a key feature of the Kaye Walker as it acts as a stimulus on the user’s hip extensors, prompting the user to take the next step. The balance of good frame geometry and the use of lightweight materials means that the Kaye Walker can be used straight away without penalising those with little upper body strength.

This size model can take a user up to the weight of 60kg. Let it be noted that there is some slight damage to the paintwork in places but still functions brilliantly.
