Repairing and Reissuing Equipment Can Reduce Costs

For the last 2 years DEMAND has been in partnership with several local authorities helping them save money by servicing and repairing their equipment. During this time we have helped them safely reissue equipment to second and third users were in the past that equipment would have been scrapped. If you would like to discuss how we can help your organisation please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Welcome to DEMAND

DEMAND is a national charity that has been designing and making specialist equipment for the disabled for over 30 years. It has recently expanded it's service to include service and repair of existing equipment and refurbishment of donated equipment for resale to second users at a vastly reduced cost to make it more accessible. The equipment on this website can be purchased from us, some items have a link to do this directly, for some items you will need to contact us to discuss your requirements.

THE DEMAND WOLFSON CVA CHAIR

£600

This chair has never been used, however the tray is an old one & slightly scratched. There are four lateral supports on these chairs, the top 2 are missing from the photo but we have them.

Intended exclusively for use in hospital stroke units for rehabilitation the Wolfson has the same height, seat depth, armrest & lateral support adjustment as the neuro.  Seat & back angles are fixed, supposedly, at the optimum position for stroke recovery.  The leg rest is not suitable for long term use and is only there to raise the patient’s feet when moving the chair. The intended position of the user is with feet flat on the floor.  There is no pressure relief.  The tray is for forearm support & is transparent so that the user can see the position of their feet if unable to sense the position of their limbs when out of sight.   The headrest is adjustable up & down on straps.

THE DEMAND WOLFSON CVA CHAIR

They were intended exclusively for use in hospital stroke units for rehabilitation. There were many of the Wolfson Chairs sold over a long period so it is likely that some are still in use. They were superceded by the neuro chair because of the Wolfson’s lack of adjustment. It has the same height, seat depth, armrest & lateral support adjustment as the neuro. Seat & back angles are fixed, supposedly, at the optimum position for stroke recovery. The leg rest is only there to raise the patient’s feet when moving the chair. It is not suitable for long term use. The intended position of the user is with feet flat on the floor. There is no pressure relief. The tray is for forearm support & is transparent so that the user can see the position of their feet is ‘correct’ presumably because those affected by stroke may not always be able to sense the position of their limbs when out of sight. The headrest is adjustable up & down on straps, but otherwise very basic.

This particular chair, shown in the photo, has never been used but has lost a few parts over the years. There are four lateral supports on these chairs, the top 2 are missing from the photo but we have them, minus one cover but it may be here somewhere & findable, otherwise it would need to be remade.

The tray is an old one & slightly scratched. The chair lacks the tray fitting parts but we have most bits in stock so that is not a major problem.
